Independiente is allowed to reopen all areas of its Libertadores de América-Ricardo Bochini stadium for the match against San Lorenzo on Sunday. This comes after the restrictions on the Pavoni Alta and Baja stands were removed, which were initially imposed due to violent incidents during the Copa Sudamericana.

This decision arrives during a challenging time for the club, following the recent departure of coach Julio Vaccari. The Buenos Aires provincial government announced the change after inspections confirmed that necessary repairs were made, security measures were enhanced, and coordination with police and the Argentine FA was established. Fans can expect a full stadium in Avellaneda as they prepare for the upcoming clásico against Racing.

However, some restrictions still apply. The use of musical instruments, large banners, and flags remains limited to smaller formats in the Erico and Bochini stands. The club also informed supporters who had secured their Pavoni Baja passes during the U de Chile match that they will be valid until the end of the year.

In addition, Independiente faced another penalty from Conmebol. The Disciplinary Committee fined the club $20,000 for delaying the restart of the first leg against Universidad de Chile, while former coach Vaccari was fined $15,000. Both fines will be taken from television or sponsorship income.

Alongside $250,000 in previous fines and multiple match suspensions due to the issues in Avellaneda, this new penalty adds to the club’s struggles. Yet, the lifting of the stadium ban brings some relief, allowing Independiente to receive full support from its fans for an important match in the local tournament.
