Injury Keeps Iñaki Williams Off the Field Temporarily

Unfortunate news for Athletic’s coaches and fans.

In the third round of the UEFA Champions League, Athletic Bilbao won against Qarabağ 3–1 but lost an important player during the match.

Details: Iñaki Williams injured his right leg and had to leave the game in the first half. The club confirmed that he suffered an adductor muscle injury.

Quote: “Iñaki Williams was substituted in the 38th minute of yesterday’s Champions League match against Qarabağ due to an adductor muscle injury in his right leg. He will start his recovery and await further evaluation,” said the club’s statement.

Additionally, Jeremie Frimpong also got injured and left the field. After the match, Liverpool head coach Arne Slot announced that the Dutch player will be out for several weeks.

Reminder: Gúrúzeta became only the fourth player in Athletic’s history to score two or more goals in a single Champions League or European Cup match.
