Goa: The AIFF Super Cup 2025-26 tournament began with a dramatic, rain-affected match at the GMC Stadium. In the opening game, Inter Kashi FC held NorthEast United FC to a 2-2 draw. Both teams fought hard despite the difficult weather conditions.

Inter Kashi, newly promoted to the I-League, surprised the Durand Cup champions early in the match. Harmanpreet Singh scored in the fifth minute, taking advantage of a mistake in the NorthEast defense. However, NorthEast United responded quickly. Moroccan striker Alaeddine Ajaraoui found the equalizer in the 18th minute. Just before halftime, the Highlanders took the lead when Míchel Zabaco scored with a powerful header in the 40th minute.

Their efforts were rewarded in the 74th minute when Karthik scored to level the score again. In the final moments, NorthEast United players, including Redeem Tlang and Thoi Singh, tried hard to find a winning goal, but Inter Kashi’s defense remained solid to secure a crucial point.
