Inter Miami issued a statement after the altercations that followed the Leagues Cup Final, where the Seattle Sounders won the trophy. The statement read, “Inter Miami condemns the altercations that took place after the Leagues Cup Final. These actions do not reflect our sport’s values, and we are committed to maintaining high standards of sportsmanship both on and off the pitch.” The club mentioned that it is “working closely with Leagues Cup and MLS officials to ensure the situation is handled properly.”

Luis Suárez, whose actions sparked controversy after spitting at a Seattle staff member, also commented on the incident. The Uruguayan striker admitted his mistake in a statement on social media: “It was a moment of high tension and frustration… but that does not justify my reaction. I was wrong, and I genuinely regret it.” Suárez started by congratulating Seattle on their victory and added, “This is not the image I want to present to my family, who are affected by my mistakes, nor my club, which shouldn’t suffer because of this.”

He also expressed his regret to those impacted: “I feel bad about what happened, and I want to take this opportunity to acknowledge it and apologize to everyone offended by my actions.” MLS has not announced any disciplinary actions yet, but a decision regarding potential sanctions against Suárez and others involved in the post-match incident is expected soon.
