Inter Milan is leading the Serie A title race again. However, after last year’s collapse and watching Napoli win at the last moment, they are cautious with both Napoli and their rivals, AC Milan.
Both clubs are closely pursuing them, and Inter understands the need for significant action in the January transfer window to maintain their top position.
This urgency is due to the injury of star right wing back Denzel Dumfries, who will miss two months, as confirmed by CEO Giuseppe Marotta.
A potential replacement is available, with Al Hilal’s Joao Cancelo expressing a desire to return to top European football, and Barcelona is also in the mix.
Inter is showing interest. Marotta confirmed Dumfries’s injury situation through Fabrizio Romano and mentioned they aim to secure a transfer deal for Cancelo this season:
“Dumfries will be out for two more months, and we are discussing a deal for João Cancelo. We need to find a solution at RB with Dumfries out.”
Marotta also acknowledged their efforts to bring in Joao Cancelo, who previously had a strong stint in Serie A while playing for Juventus FC.
