Inter Milan are firmly at the top of the Italian league standings after defeating Udinese 2-1 at the Giuseppe Meazza stadium in Milan on Monday morning IST.
The win sees Inter consolidate their position at the top of the Serie A standings with 67 points from 30 games, six points ahead of Napoli in second place.
Meanwhile, Udinese’s defeat left them 10th in the standings with 40 points from 30 games, 16 points adrift of the top four.
Goals from Marko Arnautovic and Davide Frattesi saw Inter win the match, while a goal from Oumar Solet saw Udinese come from behind.
Statistically, Inter had the better of the two teams in this match, with 13 shots on target and 60 per cent of the possession.
Inter took the initiative at the start of the game and went close when Davide Frattesi’s shot hit the post.
Simone Inzaghi’s side took the lead through Marko Arnautovic, whose shot was saved by Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye to make it 1-0 in the 12th minute.
Inter doubled their lead in the 29th minute when Davide Frattesi’s shot found the back of the Udinese net.
In the second half, Udinese tried to reduce the deficit and in the 71st minute, Oumar Solet scored to make the score 2-1.
Towards the end of the game, Udinese had a chance to equalise through Solet, but this time Inter goalkeeper Yann Sommer saved well. The score remained 2-1 to Inter until the final whistle.
