Andoni Iraola feels Bournemouth should have received a “clear” penalty after their goalless draw with Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday.

The match ended in a stalemate for the second time this season, with both teams striking the woodwork but failing to score.

Jaidon Anthony hit the crossbar in the first half, followed by Marcus Tavernier who grazed the outside of the post in the second half.

Iraola believed Bournemouth should have come away with a win, noting they took 22 shots, including three significant chances.

“Of course, we did enough,” he said after the match. “If you look at the stats, we had many shots. We need to convert chances. We are not letting in goals, but we are also not scoring.”

“It’s frustrating. We’re missing opportunities. It’s a clear penalty. We could have had two more points.”

Iraola added that they expected a challenging match at Turf Moor. “They had a good chance. Our second half was much better. The first 20 minutes were excellent, but we didn’t capitalize. It is a bit frustrating.”

Evanilson went down dramatically after a challenge from Joe Worrall with ten minutes remaining, and Iraola believes the referee should have awarded a penalty.

“I think it’s (Bashir) Humphreys and Worrall. Evanilson goes down and it’s very clear. We’re not making a lot of noise; we’re Bournemouth. Worrall clearly intended to kick Evanilson.”
