Mamelodi Sundowns is considering taking their issue to FIFA, filing a complaint against clubs that may have urged Lucas Ribeiro to end his contract early. In a letter, Ribeiro indicated his intention to leave, mentioning that his prospective new club wouldn’t take responsibility for the disagreement with Mamelodi.
This has led to speculation about possible international involvement affecting one of the top players from last season in the South African Premiership. Lawyer Mfo Nkontlha from Nkontlha Attorneys mentioned that the South African club is within its rights to approach FIFA. Such interference is considered a serious offense and may result in penalties, including a transfer ban.
As per FIFA rules, the Qatari club could also face penalties for meddling in the player’s affairs,
AdvertisementNkontlha noted.
Previously, Ribeiro was linked to Qatar SC, who had made multiple offers for him. After the Club World Cup, the Brazilian revealed his wish to leave and openly stated he was ready to end his contract with the Sundowns.
