Inter Miami has secured a spot in the MLS playoffs but is no longer in contention for the top seed in the Eastern Conference. Decision Day is not just another match, as Lionel Messi aims for a significant goal in the game against Nashville SC.
Messi is chasing the Golden Boot, and while there’s no official word yet, it appears he will play alongside his teammates, focused on becoming the top scorer in MLS this season.
The superstar has scored seven goals in his last seven matches and currently leads with 26 goals. He is closely followed by Denis Bouanga from LAFC with 24 goals, and Nashville’s Sam Surridge with 23 goals.
Additionally, Messi has provided 18 assists, tying him with Anders Dreyer of San Diego FC, putting him in a strong position for the assist title as well.

Focus on the Playoffs
With their playoff spot confirmed, Inter Miami, led by head coach Javier Mascherano, is now concentrating on boosting their confidence and seeding for the postseason.
Mascherano emphasized the need for a strong final match against Nashville SC, expressing the goal to finish the regular season positively and build confidence as they head into the playoffs.
The Herons are competing with FC Cincinnati for the second place in the Eastern Conference and are aiming for a win to secure a favorable home-field advantage for the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs, where Messi and the experienced team will strive for a championship.
Playoff Schedule
After the crucial Decision Day match, Inter Miami will kick off their pursuit of the MLS Cup title next week. As a top-seven seed in the Eastern Conference, they have avoided the single-elimination Wild Card matches scheduled for Wednesday, October 22, and will begin their playoff campaign in the best-of-three Round One Series starting Friday, October 24.
The team has secured home-field advantage for at least one game in the series, meaning the first or a potential decisive third match will take place at Chase Stadium, with match details confirmed after the regular season concludes.
