The rift between star striker Alexander Isak and Newcastle United has deepened dramatically, with the player now training in isolation and being excluded from team bonding events. Manager Eddie Howe has taken a firm stance, demanding that any player must “earn the right to train with the group,” as Isak continues to push for a move to Premier League rivals Liverpool.
The 25-year-old forward was conspicuously absent from a recent family barbecue organised by Howe, an event designed to foster unity within the squad. Isak was reportedly instructed to arrive at the training ground only after the gathering had concluded, underscoring his current alienation from his teammates.
This latest development follows a period of escalating tension. Isak did not travel with the squad for their pre-season tour of Asia, officially due to a thigh injury. However, he was subsequently seen training with his former club, Real Sociedad, a move that is said to have frustrated the Newcastle hierarchy.
Liverpool have reportedly lodged a substantial bid of around £110 million for the Swedish international, which was rejected by the Magpies. Newcastle are understood to be holding out for a fee in the region of £150 million and will not sanction a sale until a suitable replacement has been secured.
With the start of the new season just around the corner, the standoff at St. James’ Park shows no sign of resolution, leaving Isak’s future on Tyneside in serious doubt.
