ISL 2025-26: Supreme Court to Decide League’s Fate

With the Indian Super League (ISL) still stuck in limbo, clubs and the All India Football Federation (AIFF) have decided to seek the top court’s verdict on its future.

The league has been on hold ever since Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL) and the AIFF failed to reach an agreement over the crucial Masters Right Agreement (MRA) – the deal that governs how the ISL operates.

In a statement on Thursday, the AIFF revealed,

“A discussion was held between the legal representatives of the AIFF and ISL clubs. It was agreed that the concerns over the season delay, and the impact on players and other stakeholders, will be placed before the Supreme Court next week.”

The delay has already started taking a toll on teams. Top clubs like Chennaiyin FC and Bengaluru FC have temporarily suspended their first-team operations because of the uncertainty.

Officials from the AIFF, ISL, and FSDL met last week to find a way forward, but no breakthrough was reached. Another round of talks is planned for next week, but now all eyes will be on what the Supreme Court decides.

For players, fans, and everyone connected to the league, the verdict can’t come soon enough.
