Pirates of the Italian seas! Italy U-21 players trained with one eye covered...
A truly unconventional training approach.
It’s all about how the eyes perceive the game.
Details: The head coach of Italy’s U-21 team, Silvio Baldini, had his players wear black eye patches over one eye during their recent training. This is part of their preparation for upcoming matches against the youth teams of Sweden and Armenia.
Baldini believes that using an eye patch can improve depth perception and enhance the dominant eye, which is crucial for how the brain processes information. This technique aims to improve players’ speed, coordination, and decision-making on the field.
This approach has previously been successful in rugby, golf, and among top Formula 1 drivers.
The 67-year-old Baldini is known for his innovative training methods—he has even conducted practice sessions on the beach.
Tomorrow, Italy’s U-21 team will play against Sweden at home in the European Championship qualifiers, followed by a match against Armenia U-21 at home on October 14.
