The Elephants secured a convincing victory against Philadelphia Union II in a recent friendly match. This game, which marked the Ivorian team’s final preparation ahead of the World Cup set to kick off on June 11, saw the Ivorians control the tempo against the reserve side of Philadelphia Union. Evann Guessand opened the scoring with a goal in the 9th minute, giving Ivory Coast an early lead.

Demonstrating their dominance throughout the match, the Elephants doubled their advantage when Ange-Yoan Bonny successfully converted a penalty in the 40th minute, extending the score to 2-0. Additionally, Ivorian goalkeeper Alban Lafont showcased his skills by saving a penalty during the match.

Looking ahead, Ivory Coast is set to play their first group stage match against Ecuador on June 15. Following that, they will face Germany on June 20 and wrap up the group stage with a match against Curaçao on June 25.
