With just 12 days until the Africa Cup of Nations begins, Côte d’Ivoire’s coach Emerse Faé has announced the squad heading to Morocco to defend their title and aim for a fourth star on their jersey. In Group F, the Elephants will face Mozambique, Cameroon, and Gabon. Key players include former Toulouse goalkeeper Alban Lafont (Panathinaikos) and ex-Angers player Yahia Fofana (Rizespor) among the goalkeepers. Defensively, Guéla Doué (Strasbourg), Emmanuel Agbadou (Wolverhampton), and Evan Ndicka (AS Roma) have been selected, while Wilfried Singo (Galatasaray) has been left out.
In terms of midfielders, experienced players such as Franck Kessié (Al-Ahli), Seko Fofana (Stade Rennais), and Ibrahim Sangaré (Nottingham) have made the cut. Jean-Michael Séri (34), who is currently in Slovenia with NK Maribor, has also been called up. For the attack, Amad Diallo (Manchester United) and Evann Guessand (Aston Villa) are included, along with Sébastien Haller (Utrecht) and Bundesliga talent Yan Diomandé (RB Leipzig). Wilfried Zaha (Charlotte FC), who missed the last AFCON, returns to the national team, while Nicolas Pépé (Villarreal) has not been selected. The previous edition’s best young player, Simon Adingra (Sunderland), is also absent from Faé’s list.
