Formula 1 drivers often have contract clauses that prevent them from participating in extreme sports to avoid injuries. Football is not typically seen as an extreme sport, unless you’re up against Jamie Carragher.

Lewis Hamilton, an Arsenal fan from childhood, recently fulfilled a dream by playing in a 5-a-side football match with some of Arsenal’s greatest players.

The match featured icons like Thierry Henry, Robert Pires, Sol Campbell, and Paul Merson.

Hamilton captained one team against Henry, who had Jamie Carragher from Liverpool on his side.

Carragher, known for his strong defense and loyalty, aimed to make an impact on Hamilton, surprising some onlookers.

During the exhibition match, Carragher delivered a rough challenge, pushing Hamilton into the metal barriers surrounding the pitch.

Hamilton emerged unhurt, even though the challenge would typically be considered standard in professional football.

However, given the exhibition nature of the match, many spectators found it a tough tackle.

After the game, which Henry’s team won on penalties, Carragher was questioned about his tackle, especially with the Monaco Grand Prix coming up. He replied, “No, he’s here to play football. You’ve got to play by our rules, not the Monaco Grand Prix. He had his shin pads on, so I think he knew what to expect. But he did very well.”

He added, “It was a fun game. I was trying to give him a tough time, but I think I hurt myself a bit too!”

Martin Brundle, who was commentating with Martin Tyler, expressed his concern over the tackle, saying, “I wanted to come out here and help him. He really needs some other F1 drivers next time; they were tough on him! I’m just happy he walked away without any serious injuries, ready for Monaco.”
