Javier Tebas Faces Ouster Threat Following Leak of Confidential Information on Barcelona

The Sports Administrative Tribunal (TAD) has opened a serious disciplinary case against Javier Tebas, the president of LaLiga, for allegedly leaking confidential information about FC Barcelona, according to various official sources, including Sport. The complaint was filed by Miguel Ángel Galán, the president of the Transparency and Democracy in Sport Association, who accuses Tebas of disclosing sensitive data related to the VIP box operations at Spotify Camp Nou. The conflict stems from April 2, 2025, when LaLiga issued a statement—later removed from its website and social media—claiming that Barcelona had failed to register €100 million from the sale of 475 VIP seats in time. The club swiftly responded, stating it never authorized the release of this financial information and accused Tebas of breaching confidentiality duties.

The complaint submitted to the Consejo Superior de Deportes (CSD) and then forwarded to the TAD goes beyond the VIP boxes. According to Galán, Tebas also disclosed details about the club’s auditor change, its assets, and internal communications with the CSD. The case even includes a meeting between Tebas and Athletic Club officials regarding interest in Nico Williams, where provisional financial statements and internal audits were reportedly shared without authorization. Eighteen FC Barcelona members officially support the complaint. If the violation is confirmed, Tebas could face public fines, a suspension ranging from two months to a year, or even removal from his position. This case adds to the institutional pressure on Tebas, who was previously sanctioned by the TAD in 2024 for another information leak following a complaint from Real Madrid.
