Terem Moffi has begun his fourth season with OGC Nice, while Jérémie Boga is in his third. However, it appears that both players may no longer represent the club following the incident that occurred Sunday night after their return from Lorient. They were targeted by angry supporters and reportedly suffered physical assault, insults, and spitting, leading to medical certificates and complaints filed at two different police stations.
As reported by Nice Matin, both players have made it clear they no longer wish to play for OGC Nice. This decision follows the horrific events they experienced. Once seen as embodiments of the club’s sporting ambitions, it’s hard for them to envision stepping onto the pitch at Allianz Riviera knowing some of the supporters may have attacked them.
The Nice Management in a Difficult Position
Moffi (26 years old) and Boga (28 years old) are traumatized not only by the physical attacks but also by the environment in which they arrived. Several players have expressed their anger to the management, stating they felt endangered. Boga is currently unavailable until Friday, while Moffi will be out until Sunday, making their return to the field uncertain in both the short and long term.
Initially contracted until 2027, the two players have openly expressed their desire not to continue with Nice. The management’s response remains to be seen. Training was expected to resume on Wednesday, with a debriefing session planned with the players and management. However, it may already be too late for some, as Boga and Moffi are not obligated to attend. The coming days are set to be tumultuous.
