All is not well at OGC Nice. Following their 3-1 defeat to Lorient in Ligue 1, the team returned to their training camp on Monday amid severe incidents caused by frustrated supporters. Nearly 400 fans awaited the Nice bus at the training center. Initially, players refused to exit due to the evident hostility but eventually complied under pressure. As they emerged, tensions escalated: Jérémie Boga and Terem Moffi were targeted, facing spitting, physical assaults, and insults, some of which were racially motivated. The grievances against the Ivorian and Nigerian players—offering tickets to Marseille acquaintances and being perceived as inappropriate after the loss—intensified the aggression from the fans.
Even the sports director, Florian Maurice, was not spared. Terem Moffi was evaluated the following day and has been placed on leave until next Sunday, while Jérémie Boga has received at least five days of sick leave, according to our sources. The club is waiting for the police report to ascertain responsibilities regarding that night when anger turned into open violence. Meanwhile, Nice’s management is holding crisis meetings, with president Fabrice Bocquet, who was absent from the bus on Sunday night, closely monitoring the situation.
