Joined by several club legends, the Barcelona president addressed recent news on Mundo Deportivo, specifically the cancellation of the Villarreal vs. Barcelona match that was set to take place in Miami.
“We respect what LaLiga says, but I disagree with the idea that the competition was compromised. I don’t share that view. Against Villarreal, we had a good streak at La Cerámica. It was a match to promote LaLiga and the image of both clubs. The reaction from AFE, the players, and Real Madrid, which took the matter to CSD, ultimately harmed LaLiga,” stated Laporta. Due to this cancellation, Barcelona also misses out on a potential revenue of €5 to €6 million.
