“Leaving Liverpool was very hard,” Henderson said. “I was there for 12 years. It was a huge change. After spending so long at the club, it felt like a part of my life was gone. I struggled for a while.

I couldn’t watch many games, especially those involving Liverpool. It was tough because I had such a strong connection to the club. Leaving felt like a breakup. It was really difficult.” Henderson shared.

Henderson also expressed regret about moving to Al-Ettifaq, mentioning he would make a different choice now:

“Looking back, I might have decided differently. But at that time, I felt it was best for me. I had my reasons, and I believed it was the right choice. Eventually, I wanted to return to Europe and play for Ajax, which I enjoyed.”

Henderson joined Liverpool from Sunderland in 2011 for €18 million. During his Liverpool career, he made 493 appearances, scoring 33 goals and assisting 58 times.
