The Portuguese manager acknowledged that taking the job at Fenerbahçe was a mistake.
Mourinho believes Benfica is a much better choice.
Details: 62-year-old José Mourinho, currently managing Portuguese club Benfica, stated that his decision to join Fenerbahçe was a significant error:
“I have a long career and have coached some of the biggest clubs worldwide. Joining Fenerbahçe was the wrong choice for me. It didn’t match my cultural or football standards. Nonetheless, I gave my all until the very end. With Benfica, I am back at my level. I belong at top clubs.” – said José.
José Mourinho stepped down as head coach of Fenerbahçe at the end of August after being eliminated from the Champions League by Benfica. Shortly after, Benfica let go of head coach Bruno Lage, leading to Mourinho taking over the “Red Eagles.”
