In an interview with Marca, Ferrero indicated that although he and Alcaraz have ended their professional collaboration, their friendship remains intact.
“I’m not closing the door. Given our history, it wouldn’t make sense to end things completely for either of us,” said Ferrero.
He added, “I want to part on good terms. Having different viewpoints doesn’t mean we aren’t friends or that our relationship isn’t strong.”
Ferrero began coaching Alcaraz when he was just fifteen and reflected on their shared journey as one of significant growth and success.
During their time together, Alcaraz achieved the world number one ranking, secured two Grand Slam titles, and became a well-rounded player. Ferrero noted their split was due to differing opinions, not personal conflicts.
After almost eight years of intensive travel and training, Ferrero acknowledged that both needed time apart to recharge.
While admitting the separation was difficult, he emphasized the respect at the foundation of their relationship.
Even though he is no longer part of Alcaraz’s team, Ferrero continues to have faith in the young player’s future.
“He has a good support system around him that can prepare him well,” Ferrero added.
Ferrero’s remarks reflect the strong bond they built over the years, marked by numerous achievements from early Challenger events to significant victories.
Though they have parted ways, their mutual respect is evident. As Alcaraz begins this new phase with a restructured coaching staff, Ferrero leaves feeling proud of their accomplishments.
Whether they will collaborate again remains uncertain, but Ferrero’s comments suggest that the door is open for future possibilities grounded in respect.
