The health of 80-year-old coach Mircea Lucescu has significantly worsened.
Details: As reported by DailyMail, doctors are giving a grim forecast: he may have only days to live.
Lucescu suffered a heart attack on Friday morning and was placed in a medically induced coma afterward. He is known for his management of teams like Dynamo, Shakhtar, and the Romanian national team.
The situation grew more serious when his son, Razvan Lucescu, the head coach of Greek team PAOK, abruptly left preparations for an important match against Panathinaikos. Razvan traveled to Bucharest to be with his father in the hospital, where Mircea’s wife, Neli, and granddaughter, Marilu, are also present.
Severe arrhythmia caused his rapid decline. Mihai Stoichita, the technical director of the Romanian national team, visited Lucescu and shared his sadness:
“He is connected to the machines. I couldn’t speak to him, I just touched his hand. Hope dies last, but your heart breaks when you see such a man in this state,” Stoichita said.
Throughout his career, Lucescu has managed various clubs in Italy, Ukraine, Turkey, and Romania.
