Sénégalese defender Kalidou Koulibaly, now playing for Al-Hilal at 34 years old, praised his former teammate Gonzalo Higuaín during a recent interview on the YouTube show Zack en roue libre. He stated, “For me, Higuaín is one of the best strikers I’ve played with (at Napoli), if not the best. You can give him the ball in the midfield, and he will score on his own… it was incredible. With Maurizio Sarri, it was even more impressive. I’ve never seen a player work so hard in front of goal. Out of 30 chances, whether 15 on the left or 15 on the right, he would score 28. Even when facing a goalkeeper, his control and shot led to a goal… he’s phenomenal in the air; he’s one of the best strikers I’ve shared the pitch with.”
Koulibaly played alongside Higuaín at Napoli and has also teamed up with other great attackers like Victor Osimhen. In the Senegal national team, he has had the chance to play with Sadio Mané as well. Higuaín scored 121 goals in 258 matches for Real Madrid and went on to net 91 goals in 146 matches for the Italian club.
