Kane Clinches Last-Minute Win for Bayern, 3-2 Over Wehen Wiesbaden in German Cup

Harry Kane scored a late goal to give Bayern Munich a thrilling 3-2 win over Wehen Wiesbaden in the first round of the German Cup on Wednesday.

Bayern started strong, taking a two-goal lead shortly after halftime. Kane netted a penalty, marking his 31st consecutive successful spot-kick for club and country, followed by a goal from Michael Olise.

However, Wiesbaden’s captain, Fatih Kaya, pulled his team back into the game with two quick goals.

Kane had another chance from the penalty spot in the 76th minute but saw his attempt saved, marking his first missed penalty since the 2022 World Cup.

He made amends by scoring with a header from a Josip Stanisic cross in the dying moments of the match, saving Bayern from embarrassment.

Since claiming their 20th title in the 2019-20 season, Bayern has not advanced past the German Cup quarterfinals.

The Bavarians took the lead with a Kane penalty in the 16th minute after Sacha Boey was fouled.

The second goal came in the 51st minute, with Olise finding the bottom corner after a defensive error.

Bayern seemed to be on track for an easy win until Wiesbaden’s Niklas May sent in a perfect cross, enabling Kaya to volley in and reduce the deficit in the 64th minute.

Inspired, Wiesbaden equalized when Kaya received a flicked ball from Moritz Flotho and scored again.

Kane’s follow-up penalty attempt was thwarted by an excellent save from Wiesbaden’s goalkeeper, Florian Stritzel.

In the end, Kane secured the victory with a well-timed header that left Wiesbaden disappointed.

The draw for the second round will be held on Sunday.
