Three-Day Football Training Camp Concludes; Promising Players to Train with Senior Team
Kannur: The Kannur Warriors Football Club's three-day football training camp concluded at the Police Parade Ground. Shafeeq Hassan, assistant coach of Kannur Warriors, led the training sessions. Selected football players from various districts participated in the camp. The training was organized as part of the 'Game Changer' state-level talent scouting project, initiated by Super League Kerala, aiming to identify young football talents in Kerala and provide them with opportunities to play in Super League Kerala teams.
According to Shafeeq Hassan, assistant coach of Kannur Warriors Football Club, the players who participated in the ‘Game Changer’ three-day training have the potential to reach a high level. He stated that they currently require more training. Those who demonstrated excellent performance at the camp will train with the senior team starting September 1st. The coach added that all participants have the potential to play for Kannur Warriors in the future and should work hard towards that goal. Ten players from Kannur district alone participated in the three-day football training camp.
The senior team training will commence on September 1st. Currently, the team includes five players from Kannur: goalkeepers Ubaid C.K. and Mithun V, defenders Sachin Suni and Ashwin Kumar, and winger Mohammed Sanad. After reaching the semi-finals in the first season of Super League Kerala, Kannur aims to win the title this time.
Unlike the previous season, Kannur having a home stadium for the first time is a favorable situation for the team. In the previous season, Kannur played its home matches with Calicut FC at the Kozhikode Corporation Stadium.
Kannur Warriors to Train at Police Parade Ground
The Kannur Police Parade Ground has been selected as the training ground for Kannur Warriors, Kannur's own team in Super League Kerala, for the 2025-26 season. The synthetic track cum football ground at the Parade Ground was recently completed using funds from the Kerala Police Sports and Youth Welfare Society. The Police Parade Ground often hosts state school sports events, police games, and police sports meets.
