Kochi, October 03, 2025: Kerala Blasters FC has announced the signing of Spanish center-forward Koldo Obieta on a one-year deal ahead of the upcoming season.

Koldo brings years of professional experience and a strong goal-scoring record from the Spanish leagues, making him a key addition to the Blasters’ attack. The 31-year-old joins the club from Spanish side Real Unión and is the team’s first international signing for the season.

Born in Gernika, in the Basque Country, Koldo began his football journey with his hometown club. He made his senior debut in 2012 and has since played for several Spanish clubs, including Zamudio, SD Amorebieta, CD Tudelano, and AD Alcorcón.

Standing at six feet tall, Koldo is known for his strength inside the penalty box and sharp positioning. His excellent aerial ability and clinical finishing on counter-attacks are expected to add a new dimension to the Kerala Blasters’ offense. While primarily a striker, he has also demonstrated his versatility by playing in different forward positions over the years.

“Koldo is a quality forward with valuable experience in Spanish football,” said Sporting Director Karolis Skinkys. “I am confident that his abilities will significantly strengthen our attacking line-up.”

Speaking on his move, Koldo Obieta said, “When I received the offer, I looked up the club online and saw a lot about the fans. I am extremely proud to be part of this family. I can’t wait to get on the pitch and give my absolute best.”

CEO Abhik Chatterjee added, “We are pleased to welcome Koldo Obieta as our first international signing for the season. We believe his experience and ability to score goals will be a great asset to the squad and will help the team in the upcoming challenges.”

Koldo is set to join his new teammates for the Kerala Blasters’ pre-season camp, which begins in Goa on October 7. He will be joined by the other new signings who will also commence their training with the squad in Goa.
