Kevin De Bruyne Officially Leaves Manchester City, Says The Citizens Will Always Be His Home

After a decade of glory and sweet memories, Kevin De Bruyne has officially announced that he will leave Manchester City at the end of this season. Through a touching letter that he wrote himself, the Belgian midfield maestro delivered the emotional news to fans.

De Bruyne’s contract with The Citizens is due to expire this summer, and the player has confirmed that he will not extend his service at the Etihad Stadium.

The Belgian player stated that this decision was part of a footballer’s journey, although it was not easy to write. Here is the full excerpt of the farewell letter written by De Bruyne:

“There is nothing easy about writing this. But as footballers, we knew this day would come. And now it is here. You deserve to hear it from me.”

“Football brought me to this place. This city. This club. The people in it… they gave me EVERYTHING. And I had no choice but to give EVERYTHING back. And you know what? We won EVERYTHING.”

“Whether we like it or not, it’s time to say goodbye. Suri, Rome, Mason, Michele and I will always be grateful for what this city has meant to our family. ‘Manchester’ will forever be etched on my children’s passports and more importantly, in our hearts. This place will always be our HOME.”

“We cannot thank the city, the club, the staff, the teammates, the friends and the family who have been with us throughout this 10-year journey enough.”

“Every story has an ending, but this is definitely the best chapter of my life.”

“Let’s enjoy these last moments together!”

“Much love, KDB.”

Signed from Wolfsburg for £52 million in 2015, De Bruyne quickly became the beating heart of City’s game, and over the course of 10 years he has been the architect behind the club’s incredible success.

With Manchester City, De Bruyne has delivered:

  • 6 Premier League titles
  • 5 Carabao Cup (EFL Cup)
  • 2 F Cups
  • 1 Champions League – while securing a historic Treble in 2023
  • Statistically, De Bruyne has recorded:
  • 413 appearances
  • 106 goals
  • 174 assist

Making him one of the most influential players in the club’s history.

Kevin De Bruyne’s departure marks the end of one of the most glorious eras in Manchester City’s history. Although he will leave the Etihad field, his footprints will always be in the hearts of supporters. From his incredible game vision, magical assists, to his calm leadership, De Bruyne is not just a player, but a symbol of City’s glory.

Now, fans can only hope to enjoy the rest of the maestro’s magic before the curtain truly closes.
