Jürgen Klopp has not taken on another coaching role since leaving Liverpool, but he was asked about moving to Real Madrid following Xabi Alonso’s exit.

During a conversation on ServusTV, a pundit asked Klopp: “Just hours ago, news broke that Xabi Alonso is out as Real Madrid’s coach. Has your phone started ringing?”

Klopp confirmed that he had received some inquiries about the position, but not from Madrid directly.

He stated: “Yes, there has been contact, but not from Madrid. Some individuals felt they needed to reach out to me. This indicates that something isn’t quite right there at the moment.”

“Xabi Alonso has shown his coaching skill at Leverkusen over the last two years, and for him to leave Madrid just six months later signifies several issues.”

“This reflects the lack of patience today and the high expectations at Real Madrid. Making such a decision shortly after losing a cup final to Barcelona reveals a lot. Rumors were already circulating.”

“I’m not sure if that answers your question, but this has nothing to do with me and didn’t prompt any action on my part.”

He added, “I was indeed surprised—genuinely surprised. I received messages from several people and replied with various emojis.”

Red Bull CEO comments on Klopp’s links to Madrid

Since stepping away from Liverpool, Klopp took a role at Red Bull, where CEO Oliver Mintzlaff addressed the rumors connecting Klopp to Real Madrid.

“Jürgen has made it clear that he doesn’t wish to coach at the moment,” he told Bild in December.

“Of course, that could change in the future. However, I see how passionate he is about his current role, how many ideas he has, and his desire to develop further. Therefore, I’m completely relaxed.”

With Alonso’s departure, if Real Madrid reaches out with an official offer, Klopp might reconsider.

This scenario, alongside Ancelotti potentially taking over at Liverpool, would add another interesting chapter to football’s evolving narrative.
