The English Premier League is widely viewed as the top league in Europe. This view was bolstered last season when English clubs secured two out of three European trophies. Many players from the Netherlands national team also play in the Premier League.
Oranje head coach Ronald Koeman is pleased that 13 of the 25 players he selected for the September matches are from English clubs. He humorously mentioned that he might need to move to the UK to better monitor his players.
Quote: “It would be easier if they all played in Manchester and Liverpool. Then we’d only need to travel there. I believe the Premier League is the best competition.
AdvertisementFor truly strong players—yes, but they often move to other leagues quickly. In foreign leagues, you’re challenged every three days, which makes you stronger. However, that doesn’t mean you have to leave immediately, as there are also chances to play matches here in the Netherlands,” Koeman said.
