The New England Revolution made significant progress toward building its own stadium on Wednesday.

The Kraft Group announced it has reached agreements with the cities of Boston and Everett, Massachusetts. This marks a step forward in turning a long-neglected industrial site along the Mystic River into a vibrant waterfront area in Everett, which is expected to be the future location of the Revolution’s stadium.

“These agreements reflect years of collaboration with city leaders and community stakeholders to ensure the project brings lasting benefits for residents while addressing transportation, environmental, and municipal needs,” the Kraft Group stated. “We appreciate Mayor Carlo DeMaria’s leadership and vision. This investment is focused on Everett’s future and will improve access and neighborhood experiences by removing barriers for Charlestown residents. We also thank Mayor Michelle Wu and her team for their partnership.”

The agreement includes a community benefits package from the Kraft Group worth nearly $48 million to Boston over the next 15 years.

The Revolution currently plays and trains at the New England Patriots’ stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, both of which are owned by Robert Kraft and the Kraft Group.

The new stadium project plans to build a 25,000-seat venue in Everett, where an inactive power plant now stands.

The deal with Boston involves an immediate $1.5 million community impact payment once the permit is approved, along with annual payments of $300,000 for the next five years. Additionally, there will be 15 annual payments of $333,000 for ongoing infrastructure improvements, and at least $5 million for enhancements to roadways, sidewalks, bike paths, intersections, and transit facilities.

The city will also receive $1 for each soccer ticket sold and 1.5% of all concert ticket sales at the venue, totaling an estimated $34 million over the first 15 years.

No completion timeline for the stadium was provided, although a City of Everett FAQ suggests a four-year period from the start of demolition to the completion of the stadium.
