Kun Aguero and Argentine Streamers Face Backlash Over Racist Remarks

In recent years, discussions among followers of Argentine football have sparked controversies surrounding racist comments related to the French national team. Following the 2022 World Cup, some players, including Enzo Fernández, were noted for singing: “They play for France but come from Angola, they run well, they like to mess around, their mother is Nigerian, their father Cambodian, but on the passport: French.” The French Football Federation (FFF) quickly filed a complaint regarding this song. Enzo Fernández later addressed the issue, stating it was a “song that is part of the folklore.” Now, another Argentine has made headlines.

Former international player turned streamer, Sergio Agüero, has become an even more prominent media figure, sharing strong opinions and analyses on football and other topics. After the draw for the 2026 World Cup, he appeared on a show with some Argentine streamer friends. One of them made a racist remark in response to Agüero’s question: “Who is France playing against?” Streamer Facundo Iriondo answered: “Senegal.
