Real Madrid faced Barcelona in the Spanish Clasico during the 2025-26 LaLiga season, where Kylian Mbappe showcased his talent by scoring an important goal, placing him alongside Cristiano Ronaldo in the record books.

Real Madrid brought in Mbappe hoping he would shine in significant matches, and the Clasico is among the most important events. These games attract a global audience, and Mbappe has consistently met the high expectations since joining the team at Santiago Bernabeu.

Players like Mbappe are expected to excel in such moments, and he has proven his worth within Madrid’s talented lineup. He inherited the legendary No. 9 jersey that was previously worn by Cristiano Ronaldo after his move from Manchester United to Spain.

In the latest Clasico, Mbappe created several scoring chances, although one goal was disallowed for offside. However, the valid goal he scored was spectacular — it came from a perfectly timed pass by Jude Bellingham that set Mbappe up against the goalkeeper, and he didn’t miss the opportunity.

Mbappe joins an exclusive list with Cristiano Ronaldo

With his goal in four consecutive Clasico matches, Mbappe has entered an elite group of players. The only others to achieve this in the 21st century are Ballon d’Or winners from the histories of both Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Mbappe is now the third player to score in four straight Clasicos in the 21st century (six goals), following Ronaldinho Gaucho from 2004 to 2006 (four matches, five goals) and Cristiano Ronaldo in 2012 (six matches, seven goals).

Mbappe’s recent performances in Clasico

In his first match against Barcelona, Mbappe couldn’t score, and the team suffered a 4-0 loss. Later, in the Spanish Super Cup, Madrid faced a 5-2 defeat, although Mbappe did manage to score. He netted another goal in a 3-2 Copa del Rey loss in April, and on May 11, despite losing 4-3 to Barcelona, Mbappe impressed with a hat-trick.
