Barcelona coach Hansi Flick expressed confidence that midfielder Fermin Lopez will remain at the club despite rumors of a move to Chelsea, though he acknowledged uncertainty.

Reports from Spain indicate that the 22-year-old is contemplating a transfer after making his debut in the 2023/24 season.

Flick emphasized Lopez’s significance to the team as Barcelona aims to defend its La Liga title and secure a Champions League win for the first time since 2015.

“I believe he will stay, but ultimately, we’ll have to wait and see. I’ll be relieved when the transfer window closes,” Flick mentioned in a news conference.

“It’s a big business, and my focus is on my team. I’m glad Fermin plays for Barca.

“He’s vital for us, as he demonstrated last season. His playing style is unique and can greatly benefit the team.”

Lopez netted eight goals in 46 matches for Barcelona last season, contributing to the team’s domestic treble.

Barcelona faced a setback ahead of Sunday’s La Liga match against Rayo Vallecano, with Gavi withdrawing from the squad due to knee discomfort.
