La Liga Plans to Sue Players Who Staged Pre-Match Protests
A counterattack from the league.
A significant scandal emerged in La Liga last week as protests were organized against the planned match in Miami. The game has been canceled, but La Liga is now preparing to take legal action.
Details: As reported by Diario AS, the league intends to file a lawsuit against players who participated in the protests and who declined to play for the first 20 seconds of their games.
La Liga had previously warned players about evaluating the financial impact of the protests and indicated that any penalties could seriously affect both the players and their clubs.
While the league is set to pursue legal action, the players’ union believes there will be no significant consequences.
Quote: “We received information about the La Liga brand, and we talked about labor law. I suggested that this meeting should have taken place earlier. They claimed we were striking, but it was mostly a symbolic act. He mentioned the issue would be settled in court, and I didn’t want to prolong the discussion,” stated David Aganzo, head of the AFE players’ union.
Reminder: Real Madrid captain Dani Carvajal criticized Tebas for relocating the Barcelona match to the United States.
