Los Angeles FC is planning to sign Canadian winger Jacob Shaffelburg from Nashville SC, as reported on Monday.

Nashville SC is expected to receive $1 million in general allocation money, with $500,000 coming in 2026 and $500,000 in 2027. They will also keep a percentage of any future sales involving Shaffelburg.

Shaffelburg, who is from Nova Scotia, has struggled to adapt to Nashville’s recent change in coaching style under B.J. Callaghan. The more open style of play at LAFC is likely to suit him better, especially as he joins forwards Denis Bouanga and Son Heung-Min.

At 26 years old, Shaffelburg has spent the last four seasons with Nashville, scoring 11 goals in 82 appearances. This past season, he contributed four goals and two assists in 23 games.

Across his career in MLS, which includes time with Toronto FC (2019-2022) and Nashville, Shaffelburg has tallied 14 goals and 12 assists in 129 matches.
