Bolivian goalkeeper Carlos Lampe is confident as his team prepares to face Colombia on September 4 in Barranquilla, during the World Cup 2026 qualifiers. According to El País, the 38-year-old player from Bolívar believes that the pressure will not affect his team and that they should push the tension onto Colombia, who have not yet secured their qualification.

Lampe is in good form after recovering from an injury and has recently kept clean sheets in Copa Sudamericana matches against Palestino and Cienciano. While he acknowledged that playing against Brazil presents a different kind of pressure, he emphasized that they can use Colombia’s anxiety to their advantage.

He noted that Colombian fans can become impatient if their team doesn’t score quickly, which may affect the players. “When you play away, the goal is to make the opponent anxious. If we can do that, we have an advantage,” Lampe said.

With his experience, Lampe is expected to be the starting goalkeeper for Bolivia in the final two matches. Alongside him are Guillermo Viscarra, who is having a great season with Alianza Lima, and Rodrigo Banegas, the starter for league leaders The Strongest. Lampe’s goal is to remain calm, frustrate the opposition, and take advantage of the pressure Colombia feels.
