Lanús is set to host Fluminense on Tuesday night at the Estadio Ciudad de Lanús – Néstor Díaz Pérez for the first leg of the Copa Sudamericana quarterfinals. As the only remaining Argentine team, Lanús aims to reach the semifinals for the second consecutive year.

After a recent 1-0 win against Independiente Rivadavia, the team comes into this match with a boost in confidence, looking to move past a heavy loss to Vélez and an exit from the Copa Argentina against Argentinos Juniors. However, Lanús will be missing key players due to injuries, including Ronaldo Dejesús, Felipe Peña Biafore, Franco Watson, Ramiro Carrera, and Juan Ramírez.

In spite of these challenges, Lanús is leaning on its strong home advantage and positive momentum from defeating Central Córdoba in the previous round on penalties. Veteran player Eduardo Salvio and playmaker Marcelino Moreno are expected to lead the attack, supported by young striker Rodrigo Castillo.

Fluminense has faced ups and downs in the Brazilian league, securing only one win in their last five matches. However, the team remains competitive in knockout formats. Renato Portaluppi’s squad advanced past América de Cali with a 4-1 aggregate and reached the Copa do Brasil semifinals after eliminating Bahia. With Thiago Silva leading the defense and Everaldo providing experience in the attack, Fluminense aims to secure an advantage before heading back to the Maracanã.
