According to mediotiempo, Nicolás Larcamón has made a mark in Cruz Azul’s history as the first foreign manager to debut successfully at the club. After eight matches in the Apertura 2025, La Máquina is still unbeaten and is currently the only undefeated team in the league, following a victory over Pachuca and América’s unexpected loss.
Larcón’s success rate stands at 83.3 percent, surpassing the initial records of previous managers like Juan Reynoso and Pedro Caixinha. He began his tenure with a 4-1 win against León and has continued to secure victories against teams such as San Luis, Santos Laguna, Toluca, Chivas, and most recently Pachuca, even while playing with ten men for part of the match. His six consecutive wins highlight the strong start to his management.
After the win against Pachuca, Larcamón emphasized the importance of perspective: “The goals are much bigger than a great start. We need to achieve something truly significant,” indicating that his primary aim is to pursue a championship.
His early results already outshine the notable starts of Martín Anselmi in 2024 and Reynoso in 2021, both of which led to impressive records and trophies. Beyond the stats, Larcamón has quickly connected with both the team and supporters, reigniting Cruz Azul’s hopes for another league title.
Next, Cruz Azul will face Bravos, aiming to maintain their flawless record and establish themselves as serious contenders in Mexican football.
