Josh Sargent scored with a header from an Alonso Coello corner kick in the 85th minute, leading Toronto FC to a thrilling 3-2 comeback victory against the Colorado Rapids on Saturday.

Richie Laryea also found the net for Toronto (3-2-1, 10 points). For Colorado (3-3-0, 9 points), Paxten Aaronson and Keegan Rosenberry netted goals in the second half during a match filled with fouls.

The match became physical early on, with Colorado’s Jackson Travis receiving a red card in the 34th minute. Toronto’s Raheem Edwards was shown a red card in the 49th minute. The teams did not stay even for long, as Rapids’ Miguel Navarro received his second yellow card in the 74th minute.

Laryea cut Colorado’s lead to 2-1 with a shot into the top right corner from a tight angle in the 65th minute. Following Navarro’s red card, Rosenberry’s backward pass resulted in an own goal, leveling the match at 2-2 in the 77th minute, as Colorado goalkeeper Zack Steffen struggled with the long pass.

After Edwards’ red card, Aaronson scored a low shot from just outside the box in the 51st minute, giving Colorado a 1-0 lead. Moments later, Rafael Navarro won a long ball, and although his cross was headed away, the ball remained loose in the box. Rosenberry capitalized and scored, extending Colorado’s lead to 2-0 in the 54th minute.

As the first half came to a close, the play became physical. Following a video review, Travis was given a red card for a tough challenge on Edwards in the 35th minute.

Shortly after, Edwards collided with Wayne Frederick on the sideline without a whistle. Colorado’s coach Matt Wells was shown a yellow card for protesting the lack of a call. As halftime approached, Toronto defender Walker Zimmerman received a yellow card for a challenge from behind. Overall, Colorado received four yellow cards while Toronto received three.
