Inter will face Ajax in the Champions League opener, but captain Lautaro Martínez may not be able to play due to an injury.
Details: La Gazzetta Dello Sport reports that during training in Appiano Gentile, Martínez missed practice with the team because of back pain and only did gym work. He traveled with the team to Amsterdam, but it is unclear if he will play in the match.
Inter’s coach Cristian Chivu will decide the final line-up before the game and share it later tonight. If Lautaro cannot play, this could allow other players the chance to make their Champions League debut alongside Thuram.
In addition to Martínez, defender Matteo Darmian did not travel to Amsterdam due to lower back pain. His absence adds to the challenges for Inter as they prepare for the Champions League.
Last season, Lautaro was crucial for Inter in the Champions League, scoring 9 goals in 14 matches.
Reminder: Manchester City is looking to sign Denzel Dumfries.
