Leeds United and Liverpool played out a dramatic 3-3 draw in their Premier League fixture at Elland Road. The result was a major setback for Arne Slot’s Liverpool, who gave away a two-goal lead during the match.

The first half ended without any goals, as both teams missed several chances. Despite having over 61% of the ball, Liverpool could not find a way to score.

Liverpool opened the scoring in the 48th minute. Hugo Ekitike received a pass inside the box and finished clinically for his fourth goal of the season. Just two minutes later, Ekitike scored again with an assist from Conor Bradley, taking his season’s tally to five. The goal was confirmed after a VAR check, giving the visitors a 2-0 lead.

Leeds, who were 17th in the league table, fought back strongly. In the 73rd minute, they were awarded a penalty after Ibrahima Konaté fouled Wilfried Gnonto, a decision confirmed by VAR. Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored from the spot, sending the ball into the top right corner for his fourth goal of the season and reducing the deficit to 2-1.

The comeback was completed in the 75th minute. Brenden Aaronson provided a fine assist for Anton Stach, who scored with a right-footed shot from the center of the box. It was his second goal of the season, and it leveled the scores at 2-2.

Liverpool managed to get back in front in the 80th minute. Ryan Gravenberch set up Dominik Szoboszlai, who hit a low shot into the bottom left corner to make it 3-2.

However, Leeds refused to be beaten. Deep into 11 minutes of stoppage time, in the 90+6th minute, Tanaka scored from inside the box to make it 3-3. The late goal, his second of the season, secured a point for the home team in a thrilling finish at Elland Road.

This draw is another example of Liverpool’s inconsistent form this season.
