Details: A statue of Franz Beckenbauer has been unveiled outside the Allianz Arena.
Beckenbauer played as a libero and midfielder, winning the World Cup in 1974, finishing as runner-up in 1966, and coming in third in 1970. He also claimed the European Championship in 1972 and was a runner-up in 1976.
A two-time Ballon d’Or winner (1972, 1976), he achieved victory in the European Cup three times and won the Bundesliga five times.
Franz Beckenbauer passed away on January 7, 2024, at the age of 78. He would have turned 80 on September 11, 2025.
