Leny Yoro Shares Why He Turned Down Real Madrid

Leny Yoro, a promising talent from LOSC’s youth academy, has chosen to join Manchester United on a five-year deal, with a transfer fee reported at €62 million, excluding bonuses. This decision sparked discussions, especially since several clubs, including Real Madrid, showed interest in the young French defender during the summer of 2024. After overcoming a foot injury and reestablishing himself as a starter, Yoro reflected on his experiences at Manchester United and his choice to turn down Real Madrid.

“I never felt any regret. I know Manchester United, and I understand that sometimes you can have a tough season, but this club is of top quality, and there’s no doubt about that. I was aware of the club’s project before arriving. Of course, I didn’t expect to finish my first year in 15th place. But these are challenges you must face. Many clubs pursued me, not just Madrid or Manchester. I chose Manchester, and I’m really happy about it. The club’s director, the coach, and all the players are there to support you every day,” Yoro shared in an interview with Telegraph.
