Lionel Messi sends heartfelt message to Ballon d’Or winner during FIFA Club World Cup 2025 visit

Lionel Messi shared a heartfelt message for a Ballon d’Or winner who visited him during his training with Inter Miami at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

Lionel Messi and Inter Miami are preparing for a key matchup against Porto on Thursday, June 19, in their second Group A fixture at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025. While the Herons trained for the must-win contest, 1993 Ballon d’Or winner Roberto Baggio took the opportunity to visit Messi—who responded with a heartfelt message on social media.

Inter Miami kicked off the tournament on Saturday, June 14, with a goalless draw against Egyptian powerhouse Al Ahly at Hard Rock Stadium. Despite strong fan support, Messi’s squad couldn’t find the back of the net and settled for a point in the opener.

Group A remains wide open after Porto and Palmeiras also played to a scoreless draw in their first match, making Thursday’s games crucial for all four clubs in the race to reach the knockout stage.

As Inter Miami continue their preparations, Baggio stopped by to visit the Argentine captain and gifted him a No. 10 jersey from his time with the Italian national team.

What a beautiful visit! Thank you, Roberto, for this special and meaningful gift, and for the lovely conversation we shared. You’re a legend and a true great of the game. It will always be a pleasure to welcome you whenever you want to visit us!” Messi wrote.

Messi also receives gift from F1 driver

Roberto Baggio wasn’t the only one offering a meaningful gift to the Argentine icon during the Club World Cup. Following the Canadian Grand Prix, Formula One driver Franco Colapinto also presented Messi with a special gift: the helmet he wore during the race.

The gesture was a tribute from one Argentine star to another. Colapinto posted a photo of Messi holding the helmet on Instagram, adding two heart emojis and a smiley face with heart-eyes.

On the helmet, Colapinto had written a personal message of appreciation for the joy Messi has brought to fans around the world: “Thank you for so many moments of joy and the lessons you’ve taught. All the best”.
