Lisandro Martinez has been a standout player for Manchester United this season.

Since joining the club in 2022, he has made 102 appearances for the team.

During this time, he has also scored three goals.

This season alone, he has played eleven matches.

However, he missed a significant part of the early season and returned to first-team training in October, making his comeback in November against Crystal Palace.

In Saturday’s Manchester derby, Martinez helped secure a clean sheet as United celebrated a notable 2-0 win over local rivals Manchester City.

After the match, Martinez issued a challenge to Paul Scholes, saying, “If he wants to say something to me, he can come to wherever he wants. To my house, wherever.”

“I respect those who want to help the club, but when you are on TV, no one says anything to your face,” he added.

“So for me, I don’t really care what they say. I focus on my performance and the team’s performance, and I give everything to this club until my last day.”

Scholes had earlier mentioned on his podcast that Martinez might struggle against Erling Haaland, suggesting that the team needs stronger defenders back for that matchup.

With Martinez addressing Scholes’ remarks, there may be a sense of closure on this exchange for supporters.

Looking ahead, fans are also eager for United’s upcoming match against Arsenal next Sunday.
