Guillaume Restes from Toulouse and Jean-Mattéo Bahoya from Eintracht Frankfurt will miss the French U-21 team’s gathering in November due to thigh injuries sustained in their last league match, according to a statement from the French Football Federation (FFF). Tests conducted on Monday at Clairefontaine confirmed that they would not recover in time for the upcoming matches.
Coach Gérald Baticle has called up Lisandru Olmeta from SC Bastia and Jeanuël Belocian from Bayer Leverkusen to complete the squad. Olmeta, the son of former French goalkeeper Pascal Olmeta, was the starting keeper for the French team at the U-20 World Cup less than a month ago. He may earn his first cap with the U-21s soon. The young French squad will face Switzerland on November 14 at 19:30 IST, followed by a match against the Faroe Islands on November 17 at 21:00 IST, as part of the Euro 2027 qualifiers.
