Arne Slot has expressed worry about the injury Alexander Isak suffered during Liverpool’s 2-1 victory over Tottenham.
Isak got hurt while scoring Liverpool’s first goal in their Premier League match against Spurs on Saturday night. The Swedish forward came on at halftime and found the net after 60 minutes, with an assist from Florian Wirtz.
Immediately after scoring, he was substituted due to an injury caused by a challenge from Micky van de Ven. Isak’s injury adds to a challenging season since he joined the team in the summer, and Slot mentioned that the forward’s reaction raised concerns.
“I don’t have any updates on him, but if a player scores and then gets injured and doesn’t come back on the pitch—or even try to come back—that’s usually not a positive sign,” Slot said during the post-match press conference. “Conor Bradley, for example, tried to return but I had to take him off as well. If a player doesn’t attempt to come back, that often indicates a problem.”
When asked if he had talked to Isak, Slot replied, “I haven’t had the chance to speak with him yet. It’s good that he scored a nice goal, assisted by Florian Wirtz.”
“I mentioned last week that players are improving and the team is getting better. Although it wasn’t perfect today—especially in the last 10 minutes—we continue to earn points, and I see the team developing positively.”
