Liverpool defender Andy Robertson believes the support from their fans will be strong when they face Galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night.
The team needs to overcome a one-goal deficit after losing the first leg of their last-16 tie in Istanbul last week, marking the second time this season they have fallen to Galatasaray by 1-0.
Following this defeat, Liverpool played to a disappointing 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield on Sunday, prompting boos from a frustrated home crowd concerned about the team’s inconsistency.
Andy Robertson: No worries about fan dissatisfaction
Addressing the unease among fans at Tuesday’s pre-match press conference, Robertson stated: “I don’t think we have concerns about that. The most disappointing part was that our fans left unhappy.
“Our aim is to send our fans home happy. Their satisfaction means a lot to us regarding what they see on the pitch.
“On Sunday, they weren’t satisfied, and neither were we. However, ahead of tomorrow night, it doesn’t worry me because at Anfield, under the lights, our fans have been here before and will continue to be in the future.
“They always create special atmospheres at Anfield, and I believe tomorrow night will be no different, but we must give them something to cheer about.
“They will support us, but we need to provide them something to support.”
Liverpool manager Arne Slot also anticipates that the fans will rally behind the team as they aim for a spot in the quarter-finals.
“We have the backing of our fans, who will be supportive again tomorrow night, as they always have been for this club.”
