Liverpool has organized medical tests for Jeremy Jacquet as he approaches a move to Anfield during the summer transfer window.
The club has reportedly agreed to a deal worth up to £60 million for the centre-back from Rennes.
The 20-year-old is expected to sign a five-year contract, with the option to extend for another year.
Liverpool moves closer to £60m Jacquet transfer with medical scheduled
According to The Times, Jacquet will have his medical on Monday. Liverpool is not rushing to finalize the deal before the deadline, as he will join in the summer.
The team, having outbid Chelsea for the player, views the France youth international as a long-term investment rather than an immediate squad upgrade. He is likely to take over from Ibrahima Konate, who is anticipated to leave when his contract ends at the season’s conclusion.
The report also mentions that Liverpool considered a loan deal for Sunderland defender Lutsharel Geertruida, but discussions stalled when Sunderland couldn’t secure a replacement.
Geertruida, currently on a season-long loan from RB Leipzig, was interested in the transfer to reunite with Arne Slot, having played under him at Feyenoord.
Additionally, Calvin Ramsey may go out on loan if Liverpool receives a “suitable offer,” according to The Athletic. He has not played for the club since their League Cup match against Crystal Palace in October.
